The Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale Is Getting An $8 Million Facelift
Big changes are coming to the Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale.
The hotel is currently undergoing an expansive, $8 million renovation that will include a new restaurant, bar and retail shops, as well as lobby enhancements and a revamp of the spa. The project should be complete by early November.
The luxury resort is still fully operational in the meantime, as all of these changes will be carried out in phases.
The Ritz-Carlton’s upscale Italian restaurant, Via Luna, has closed down, and the new restaurant and bar will replace it. The not-yet-named restaurant will include an indoor-outdoor bar, a robust rum program and a seafood-centric menu.
Inspiration for the ocean-view restaurant will come from the Prohibition era, when Fort Lauderdale was a haven for bootleggers.
Tatiana Lora, the Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale’s area communications manager, described the concept as “casual chic, with good food, a good ambiance and good cocktails, where you’ll be able to enjoy the view.”
A casual marketplace café serving breakfast, lunch and to-go items will also be incorporated.
“People can come off the street and enjoy a great cup of coffee,” Lora said.
The lobby will be transformed into an interactive entertainment area with multimedia walls, tabletop games like pool, and updated décor that invite guests to stay and relax in the resort’s welcome center.
The carpet in the resort’s guest rooms will also be changed out for wood flooring, according to Lora.
The Ritz-Carlton’s two new retail shops—Island Company, which sells island resort-style beachwear, and a gift shop called Memories that sells affordable jewelry and other items—will be located on the first floor.
The Ritz-Carlton Spa will also be upgraded to fit the resort’s beachfront vibe. The renovated spa, set to open in August or September ahead of the other updates, will feature a hair salon, steam room and sauna, plus enhanced treatment rooms.
The seventh-floor spa has been moved to a temporary location on the eighth floor. Locals can take advantage of special deals on signature treatments at this spa during the summer ($99 for massage or facial; $79 for mani-pedi).
