The FACE of COMMUNITY HEALTHCARE PARTNERSHIPS

Stacy Hyde & Richard Carlisle, CAN Community Health

When Broward House opened its doors in 1988, its purpose was to ensure that people with HIV/AIDS received compassionate care. What started as a 52 bed home for those in need of housing or assisted living services has gradually expanded its mission. Under the leadership of CEO Stacy Hyde, offering prevention, education and testing, drug and mental health therapy, housing and case-management, Broward House helps ease the burdens of lives impacted by challenge and stigma. The only thing Broward House previously did not offer was medical assistance.

By good fortune, two years ago Richard E. Carlisle, CEO of CAN Community Health, began a partnership with Broward House. By providing the finest medical, psychological and lifestyle counseling to all patients–regardless of their financial situation, insurance status or ability to pay–patients can concentrate on getting better, not on how they will afford it.

It makes sense that the two teams joined forces. Looking to assist the most people possible, CAN Community Health seeks out organizations that have the deepest and most widespread network of resources and access to people with HIV/AIDS in need. With the history and growth of Broward House over the past 30 years, they clearly came to the right place to do the most good. The two agencies complement each other in creating a holistic approach to health in one location.
