The Faces of Fort Lauderdale
The FACE of COMPLEX COMMERCIAL LITIGATION
Bill Scherer, Conrad & Scherer
Few have done more to shape the legal landscape in Fort Lauderdale than Bill Scherer. Since co-founding Conrad & Scherer in 1974, he has earned a reputation as one of our area’s most distinguished attorneys.
He is widely known nationally for his role in the 2000 presidential election recount, where he led the team of attorneys that represented President George W. Bush and personally represented the president himself.
Locally, he was the driving force in the recovery of funds from Scott Rothstein’s multi-billion-dollar Ponzi scheme, among the highest percentages of recovery for Ponzi victims ever. Another of his cases generated one of the largest damage awards in Broward’s history. And as General Counsel for the North Broward Hospital District for 17 years, he guided one of the largest public healthcare providers in the nation.
His decades of service to the community include founding the St. Anthony’s Foundation for Education, and the governmental positions he’s held include 20 years of service as a gubernatorial appointee to Florida’s Judicial Nominating Committee for the Seventeenth Circuit.
For all this and more, he is among the area’s most honored attorneys, with an enviable list of professional and philanthropic accolades to his credit.
