Chef Brian Wood
Chef Brian Wood, at one of Fort Lauderdale’s most popular restaurants, describes himself as self-taught, but that education began at age 15 as a baker’s helper on Aquidneck Island in Rhode Island. His first cooking job was at 17 and his skills were honed at five-star restaurants in Newport and Providence, R.I. before he headed for Florida and Mangos in 1992. He has incorporated Cajun cuisine as well as styles of the Caribbean and Central America into his repertoire. He has twice won awards at the Las Olas Wine Festival, in which he has participated since its inaugural year.
