2 Florida Universities Among Top 10 Most Popular Schools For Prospective 2016 Graduates, Niche Finds
Where do all the kids want to go to college nowadays? California, New York, Texas, and—yes—Florida.
Two Florida schools were ranked among the top 10 universities that graduating seniors expressed interest in attending next year. The University of Florida (No. 7) and Florida State University (No. 10) joined schools including Stanford, NYU and Texas A&M on the list compiled by insight and review website Niche.
So what’s the top choice for the class of 2016? UCLA.
To come up with the results, Niche looked at the profiles of 630,000 high school seniors who had listed the schools to which they wanted to apply on its website. The site then gathered the information from the students’ finalized lists on Nov. 30, which is considered the peak of application season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the home of the Gators was the most popular college among students in Florida. (Still, local schools like Nova Southeastern University in Davie were considered among the top 10 in Florida in a separate 2016 Best Colleges ranking.)
The site also found that engineering, biology and nursing were the top three subject areas that high schools seniors wanted to pursue in college.
