A 22-Foot 'Magical Macaron Holiday Tree' Is On Display At The Diplomat Resort & Spa
What’s better than a mound of French macarons? How about 12,500 of them carefully lining a 22-foot Christmas tree.
That’s what you can expect to find at the Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood this holiday season.
Created by a team led by executive pastry chef Henry Martignago, the “Magical Macaron Holiday Tree”—billed as the world's largest—will be on display to the public in the hotel lobby through December.
If you thought your holiday dessert recipe required a lot of ingredients, consider this: It took 1,200 eggs, 200 pounds of powdered sugar, 165 pounds of almond flour, and 132 pounds of granulated sugar to assemble the gargantuan sweet tree.
A styrofoam base helps support the treat-lined creation, which was put together in an effort to “showcase the beauty of the confection in a unique and visual way,” a hotel representative said.
Those looking to get their sugar fix will be happy to learn that holiday-flavored macarons are available for purchase. Flavors include pumpkin spice, eggnog, orange cranberry, peppermint, elderberry and chestnut praline. And for the adults, macaron-inspired cocktails are also available.
There will also be a mini pastry kitchen, made entirely out of gingerbread, offering cookies from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
