Angelo Elia The Bakery Bar Opens In Fort Lauderdale, Serving Italian Sandwiches, Pastries, Gelato And More
A new Italian pastry shop and cafe from chef Angelo Elia has arrived in Fort Lauderdale.
Angelo Elia The Bakery Bar—whose sister restaurants include Casa D'Angelo and Angelo Elia Pizza, Bar & Tapas—announced its opening Monday, July 11. The restaurant serves pastries, sandwiches, gelato, espresso and more.
Elia took his inspiration from similar cafes in Italy, where locals and tourists go to hang out and enjoy great food, good music and a lively atmosphere.
"Not everybody wants to go to Starbucks all day," Elia told Fort Lauderdale Daily in April.
The modern, counter service-only restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating for about 50 guests, Italian music for customers to enjoy, free Wi-Fi, plus coffee and alcoholic drinks—elements that Elia imagines will make the bakery appropriate for an all-day affair.
The Bakery Bar serves Italian sandwiches ($6.50-$10), from rustic and croissant panini to flatbread piadine and soft-bread tramezzini, as well as Sicilian pizza by the slice ($6.50)—because what would an authentic Italian spot be without pizza?
The shop also offers an eye-catching display case full of house-made gelato flavors, alongside Italian pastries, such as homemade cannoli, tarts, croissants and other baked goods.
To drink, the traditional Italian cafe serves coffee of all sorts—from iced drinks like espresso granita (shaved ice) to lattes, cappuccinos and macchiatos—and Harney & Sons tea.
Most notably, Angelo Elia's newest spot also offers a beer selection that includes Italian Peroni, red and white wines by the glass, and champagne and prosecco by the quart.
It is a bakery bar, after all.
