B Square Burgers & Booze Is A New Burger Joint Opening On Las Olas This Spring
Soon there'll be a new spot on Las Olas to grab a burger or beer.
B Square Burgers & Booze, a concept from a team of restaurant and culinary professionals from New York and Connecticut, will be opening on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale by early April. The restaurant will serve creative burgers, fresh salads and farm-to-fork dishes.
The burgers will feature organic, grass-fed beef, homemade buns, fresh produce and other specialty ingredients.
Some of the whimsical burger options include The McDuck—topped with duck, foie gras and concord grape glaze—and the Aww Shuck-its—topped with fried oysters, caramelized purple onions and gorgonzola cream sauce.
"B" Dogs, hot dogs made from American Kobe beef, will also be among the highlights on the menu. The foot-long Decadent Dog, for example, will be served with truffle oil, sauteed lobster and garlic butter.
In addition, B Square Burgers will offer entrees, jumbo wings, subs and a complete salad bar. Vegetables and toppings will be showcased in a glass display, so that guests can select their ingredients and have them chopped or tossed together into a salad.
"Ultimately, we have ensured to cater to both ends of the spectrum and everything in between—from those who want to come in for a juicy burger, to guests that simply want a refreshing salad for lunch," co-owner Thomas Febbraio said.
A central bar (this one's for booze, not salads) will be the focal point of the restaurant. Here, guests can enjoy a selection of craft beers, specialty cocktails and wines by the glass or bottle.
The new restaurant group, BRO Management Las Olas, looked to South Florida to open its first concept after business partners read a study about the area's expected population growth over the next five years.
"[W]e determined that either Delray or Fort Lauderdale would be great options for our location, and ultimately we decided that Las Olas is where we wanted to open our flagship location," Febbraio said.
Also among the three-person team is Marc Katzenberg, the co-founder of TooJays gourmet deli, which grew to a chain of 25 locations around South Florida before Katzenberg sold the business. Because of his decades of experience in the area, Katzenberg has returned to South Florida to join Febbraio and chef Rafael Palomino for the venture.
The restaurant will serve weekend brunch, feature happy hour specials and provide live music. For updates on the opening, visit the B Square Burgers & Booze Facebook page.
