EDITORIAL UPDATE: This event has been cancelled as of Dec. 14.
The road to Tokyo begins at Fort Lauderdale—well, at least it does for professional beach volleyball players.
The 2019 Beach Major Series will return to Fort Lauderdale from Feb. 5 to 10, starring some of the world's best players.
The upcoming tournament will be extra special as players vie for the points needed to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games.
Olympic and World champions from dozens of countries will compete, including 2018 defending champion and Fort Lauderdale's own Nick Lucena, as well as his partner and Florida resident Phil Dalhuasser.
Beach Major Series will be bringing back the Beach Village, which will host some of South Florida's best food trucks, vendors and more. The tournament's Beach Party Nights will also return with concerts and parties each night after the matches.
