Besito Mexican Restaurant Coming To Boca Raton This Summer
Get ready to kiss Besito hello.
The high-end Mexican restaurant chain is opening up its first South Florida location in Boca Raton this summer.
Besito, which means "little kiss" in Spanish, was founded by John Tunney after years of travel in Mexico. He opened his first restaurant in 2006 and has since expanded to seven locations, including a store in Tampa.
Developer and Besito CEO Hugh Connerty, former CEO of Outback Steakhouse, and Outback Steakhouse founder Chris Sullivan are building the Boca location.
The eatery serves tacos, enchiladas and seafood options; fresh guacamole prepared tableside; over 75 tequilas and updated versions of classic margaritas. And all of this takes places in what the brand calls a "rockin' hacienda" environment.
For instance, the restaurant team will greet guests with a smile and "Buenos Dias" as they enter the Old Mexico-style restaurant lit by flickering candles.
"We do a lot of things a good resort would do for you," Besito representative Melissa Sorice said. "We want you to take your mind out of your daily lives, turn your phone on silent for an hour—because you choose to—and really enjoy yourself."
The Boca Raton location, which is looking to open in the Bank of America Tower early in the summer season, will feature a dramatic candle wall with over 150 candles, hand-selected Mexican artifacts, and a lush patio. Indoor and outdoor seating will total a capacity of 200, and Besito will have a private dining area for special occasions.
"We plan to have some fun with the patio area, which has become such a focal point of our Tampa location, and we always enjoy throwing in a few new design and decor elements to play on the uniqueness of each location," Sorice said.
Menu favorites include the Panquesito de Jaiba, a special take on the crab cake, which is served with a smoky, roasted-tomato chipotle cream sauce and topped with roasted corn, as well as the Pescado con Pipian y Atole, which is pan-seared mahi mahi with a blue corn and crab crust atop crunchy squash and peppers.
Perhaps the best thing about Besito, though, are the complimentary churros at the end of every meal.
