Boca Raton Spa Offers Beer Bath Treatment
Love drinking beer? Now you can bathe in it, too. The Maui Spa in Boca Raton started collecting ingredients from a local beer brewery to promote the health and beauty benefits in its newest spa treatments involving beer.
Barley, hops and yeast, which are ingredients commonly found in beer, are also found in the spa’s beer facial scrub, beer bath and beer body wrap treatments. The 50-minute part-sauna, part-bath soak ($80) has proven medicinal benefits, according to spa owner Gayle Wentworth.
“The ingredients help nourish skin, hair and nails, and there are studies that show it can help treat chronic arthritis, respiratory disease and even headaches,” Wentworth said in a press release.
The beer baths are conducted in copper baths, which is an added benefit as copper neutralizes the body’s positive and negative ions. Wentworth’s brother owns the popular Big Bear Brewing Company in Coral Springs, which supplies the fresh ingredients regularly.
Since there is no alcohol, the services won’t give you a buzz or make you smell like beer. However, guests are welcome to enjoy a cold brew and relax in the ultimate Hawaiian relaxation therapy and stress rehabilitation environment that makes up the Maui Spa.
