During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Head To These October Walks, Parties and Fundraisers In Fort Lauderdale
Pink tutus, pink cupcakes, pink cocktails. It's officially Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Fort Lauderdale.
In addition to plenty of walks and other fundraisers, local restaurants, hotels and organizations are standing in solidarity against breast cancer with pink-themed events happening all month long.
From philanthropic pink drinks to all-out pink parties, here are eight ways to show your support during Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October.
On Tuesdays in October, guests can indulge in all-you-can-eat tacos ($14.99), $5 margaritas, $15 pitchers and more, and are encouraged to make donations to support breast cancer research. Anytime owner Rocco Mangel is on the bar in his pink patent leather shoes, he’ll pour complimentary tequila as a thank-you to customers. Any supporter that donates $25 or more will also receive a bottle of tequila to take home.

Get glammed up in pink and indulge in an evening of pampering to support Glam-A-THON, an organization that helps organize fundraisers for local breast cancer patients. Enjoy free chair massages, hair styling, raffles, a silent auction, specialty cocktails and more. Ticket includes two beverages, hors d'oeuvres and a raffle ticket.

UPDATE: Due to the potential of severe weather from Hurricane Matthew, this event has been rescheduled for Oct. 25, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Guys, gals and pets (look out for those adorable doggie divas) will be dressed up in funny, fabulous pink attire as they help raise funds for underinsured women undergoing breast cancer treatment and therapy. Participants will receive a signature Glam-A-THON tote bag, and the team that raises the most funds will win the crown. There will even be an accompanying Food & Wine Fest, in which foodies can sample from area restaurants.

Throughout the month of October, try the Pretty in Pink cocktail ($13) at all Angelo Elia Pizza, Bar & Tapas locations, and on Oct. 26, enjoy a special pink cocktail party out on the patio at the Fort Lauderdale location. Guests can snack on complimentary tapas and Pretty in Pink Cocktails for purchase. Proceeds from the drink—made of vodka, pink grapefruit juice, lemon juice, cranberry juice and simple syrup—benefit The Women's Breast & Heart Initiative.
Oct. 26, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Angelo Elia Pizza, Bar & Tapas in Fort Lauderdale
Miami Dolphins player Koa Misi is hosting the second annual AutoNation Pink Tie Bash to benefit NSU's AutoNation Institute for Breast & Solid Tumor Cancer Research. The evening will begin with a champagne VIP reception aboard an 80-foot yacht, followed by the Pink Tie Bash with Koa Misi. A private dinner will follow with a three-course fine dining experience prepared by Lauderdale Yacht Club chef Tom Azer. Attire is, of course, pink chic.

Passionate walk participants raise funds that allow American Cancer Society to help fund cancer research and provide info and support to those affected by breast cancer.
Oct. 29, 8:30 a.m.; Huizenga Plaza in Fort Lauderdale; donation with registration
Enjoy specialty pink drinks at restaurants and bars on property. Options include Pink Basil-tinis, Watermelon Sangria, Pink Lemonade Margaritas, as well as pink cupcakes, doughnuts and more. A donation of $1 will be made to American Cancer Society for each item sold. The Rock Spa will also be offering services including pink hair extensions, 50-minute manicure, Swedish massage, hair wash and blow dry, and pink retail items for sale—the proceeds from which will be donated to ACS.
Through Oct. 31; Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood
When you dine at Steak 954 during the month of October, proceeds from the sales of Rosé For Life ($14), a refreshing rosé sangria, will benefit breast cancer research. The pink cocktail includes Provence rosé blended with St. Germaine, Kaffir lime vodka, lemon juice, ginger-strawberry syrup, orange zest, thyme, strawberries and raspberries.

Brimstone Restaurant Group locations will serve The Pink Lady cocktail in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Grille 401 in Fort Lauderdale, Brimstone Woodfire Grill in Pembroke Pines, and Piñon Grill in Boca will be offering this Deep Eddy Grapefruit vodka cocktail for $5 all day throughout the month of October. Proceeds will benefit Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. (Note: The cocktail is not eligible for the restaurants' happy hour specials.)
