"Dockominium" Project Proposed in Fort Lauderdale

One of the first “Dockominium” projects since the country’s recent recession has been proposed in Fort Lauderdale.

Similar to a condo, people can own a dockominium, or a covered boat slip on the water. It’s the equivalent of owning an indoor housing area for a vessel. Although pricey, there has been a recent renewed interest in these projects.

Harbour Twenty-Six, a two-story building that will be able to house and cover 26 boats, will be located at 1500 to 1700 SW 17th Street along the New River in Fort Lauderdale.

The dockominium would include a full, on-site clubhouse, workstations, a pool as well as cooking, entertainment and fitness areas with 24-hour security.

Prices are anticipated to range from $1.8 million to $3 million depending on yacht size.

Groundbreaking is expecting to begin in May with hopes of completion by summer 2016.
