Documentary About Women Chefs To Premiere In South Florida With Event Hosted By Filmmaker And Big Time Restaurant Group Executive Chef
Females only represent seven percent of executive chefs and restaurant owners in the United States, but Big Time Restaurant Group executive chef and partner Lisabet Summa is trying to change that.
She’s teamed up with filmmaker Joanna James to promote women in Florida’s hospitality industry through “A Fine Line,” a documentary about important women chefs in the country, as well as James’ mother’s experience as a chef and restaurant owner.
The film is also supported by the stories of Dominique Crenn, Barbara Lynch, Lidia Bastianich, Cat Cora and more.
Lisabet and James will present the South Florida premiere of the film on June 25, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Tower Club in Fort Lauderdale. The evening will include a panel discussion by top South Florida women in the restaurant industry. There will also be a cocktail party.
The “SOFLO Femmes in Food and Film” event’s honoree will be Judith Olney, a Palm Beach resident whose books The Joy of Chocolate and Entertainment both won James Beard Tastemakers Awards.
Event proceeds will provide funding for the development and mentoring of organizations that support women in the hospitality industry. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased here.
