Fingerprint And Iris Recognition Technology Launches At Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport
Biometric authentication technology has grown in size and span over the last few years and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is onboard with the trend.
The airport has launched CLEAR at Terminal Two, with plans to expand the program to all terminals in the airport.
CLEAR, a biometric identity platform, allows airport passengers to use their hands and eyes as “smart access passes” in the airport. Users move through a dedicated lane at security where they instantly validate their identities with a fingerprint or eye scan before entering the physical security screening.
Across the country, CLEAR’s airport technology also enables members to check their bags, enter lounges and board flights by scanning their fingerprints. In early 2018, Delta Air Lines incorporated CLEAR for lounge access in all 50 Delta Sky Clubs across the nation.
The technology is also being used at Marlins Park and American Airlines Arena.
CLEAR membership is $15 per month, with the option to add additional family members for $50 each per year. Members can also bring their children under the age of 18 with them through the CLEAR lane for free.
