First Official Zumba Cruise To Sail From Fort Lauderdale In January
The first official Zumba cruise will set sail from Fort Lauderdale on Jan. 25.
The five-day cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas will depart Port Everglades and travel to Zumba’s private island in Labadee, Haiti, and continue to Falmouth, Jamaica, before returning to Fort Lauderdale on Jan. 30.
While other cruises may offer Zumba classes, this cruise is tailored to enthusiasts of the interval-style dance workout. More than 130 Zumba education specialists from over 50 countries will be leading daily classes.
"We wanted to create a way to keep the party going and offer Zumba fans around the world a chance to celebrate and dance together outside the class setting," Zumba CEO and co-founder Alberto Perlman said in a statement.
Cruisers are also guaranteed a spot in one Beto “Unplugged” class, in which participants will join Zumba creator Alberto “Beto” Perez for a Zumba session featuring live music and DJs.
The dance fitness program was created by Perez in 2001. The choreography for the dance draws from Latin dance styles such as salsa, merengue and mambo. More than 15 million people in 180 countries have participated in Zumba classes, according to the Zumba website.
Prices start at $644 per person for a double occupancy interior cabin.
