Five Must-Attend Cinco de Mayo Events Across South Florida
Taco eating contests. Mariachi bands. Kids activities. Discounted drinks. What more could you want to celebrate Cinco de Mayo?
Restaurants and bars across South Florida are preparing fiestas for the holiday that commemorates the Mexican army's victory over French forces in 1862. That's right, Cinco de Mayo isn’t Mexican Independence Day—a fun fact you can tell you friends while celebrating.
LIME Fresh Mexican Grill
LIME Fresh Mexican Grill is holding Cinco de Mayo events at its Miami-Dade County, Broward County and Palm Beach County locations. At each block party, LIME will provide live entertainment, tacos, giveaways, activities for kids like face painting and balloon artists, happy hour specials and Coronas priced at $2 all night long.
Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar
Tequila expert and restaurateur Rocco Mangel is ready to party. Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar will host events at each of its locations from Fort Lauderdale to Palm Beach Gardens. Restaurants will open at noon on May 5, providing guests with music, giveaways and free tequila pourings by Rocco and “Team Cinco.”
Sample fresh Mexican cuisine created by Chef David Watson as you soak up the sunrays at Calaveras Cantina. Its Cinco de Mayo event will include live music, drink specials, games and food trucks. Plan to see beverage director Carlos Sanchez mixing up delicious margaritas and mojitos for the occasion.
The BUTCHER SHOP
The BUTCHER SHOP Beer Garden & Grill will host its first Cinco de Mayo event at its new West Palm Beach location. The German style beer garden will take on a “south of the border” feel, honoring Mexican-American culture, and will feature Cazadores Tequila, Bacardi Banana Rum and a street taco trio throughout the day.
Spend the day downtown in the historic Himmarshee District with TacoCraft. Its block party begins at 5 p.m. and won’t stop till the early morning, featuring 11 bars and restaurants throughout the downtown area. Live music will be performed throughout the event, as well as a duel in the street between Luchador Wrestlers.
Note: Content has been updated. A previous version stated that TacoCraft's event begins at noon. It has been corrected to 5 p.m.
