Fort Lauderdale Among Most Affordable Travel Destinations In U.S., According to New Ranking
South Floridians don’t have to look far to find a great vacation at a reasonable cost.
Fort Lauderdale is the fourth most affordable travel destination in the nation, according to a study by web app Smart Asset. The city was among four Florida locations that made the top 10 list of cheap vacation spots. The others were Orlando (No. 2), Tampa (No. 3) and Jacksonville (No. 9).
For the analysis, the company calculated the estimated cost of vacation for a family of four in 36 of the largest U.S. cities. It took into consideration airfare, car rental, hotel rooms and the cost of food. The estimated cost of a three-day vacation in Fort Lauderdale came out to $2,563.
In addition to low airfare, car rental rates and dining costs, Fort Lauderdale also offers great weather, numerous golf courses, an accessible downtown area and access to Everglades National Park, the company notes.
The company also crunched the numbers for those traveling solo: The estimated cost for a single vacationer in Fort Lauderdale is $960, making it the sixth cheapest travel destination for single travelers in the U.S.
