Fort Lauderdale Among Top 10 Small Business Cities In America
City snags No. 7 spot, beats Los Angeles and Houston
Another win for our beloved city.
Fort Lauderdale was ranked No. 7 on Biz2Credit’s ranking of the best small business cities in the nation. (OK fine, so it’s listed as “Miami-Fort Lauderdale,” but we’re taking the credit!) The city beat out other major business hubs, such as Los Angeles and Atlanta.
To top it off, two other Florida cities — Tampa-St. Petersburg and Orlando, listed as 19 and 22, respectively — made the top 25. The top honors went to Riverside, California.
To come up with its results, the company “analyzed 12,000 businesses with less than 250 employees and less than $10 million in annual revenues from across the country that have been in operation for more than 1 year.” It took into account annual revenue, credit score, age of business (in months), and a “BizAnalyzer score that takes into account cash flow, debt-to-income ratio, and business owners' personal credit scores.”
When ranked by youngest age of business, Orlando actually snagged the No. 1 spot. As Biz2Credit explains, that means startups are doing really well in the city. In this case, Fort Lauderdale was listed as No. 14.
“The Sunshine State is a vibrant part of the country right now; it's not your grandfather's Florida anymore,” the company writes.
We couldn’t agree more.
