Fort Lauderdale Art Museum Gets A New Name
This Monday, what was previously known as the NSU Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale will begin going by its new name: NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale.
The change will be part of the museum’s rebranding strategy to better illustrate its artistic and educational relationship with Nova Southeastern University, its partner since 2008.
The museum’s new name comes complete with a new logo that’s believed to be marketing-friendly and modern as well as a redesigned website and a new tropical-spice color palette.
The new color palette will be used for publicity and marketing materials such as T-shirts, tote bags and other items that will soon be sold in the museum gift shop.
Museum director, Bonnie Clearwater told Southflorida.com, "The branding is reflecting what's going on at the museum itself. We are completely reshaping and repositioning the museum. It is about being very transparent about our direction and what our goals are, making it clear that we are an integral part of NSU, and making it very clear that we are about moving forward, being dynamic."
The new logo was designed by Miami artist, Leyden Rodriguez and is itself an artful piece of communication.
"It's dynamic. The museum actually looks like it's moving forward," Clearwater says. "And that's what the goal of a brand is: to very succinctly understand what the institution is."
