Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show Adds Catamaran Cove, Aiming To Host The Largest Catamaran Show In The World

Fort Lauderdale might be known as the Yachting Capital of the World, but we've got plenty of catamaran fans, too.

That's why the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is adding a new section called Catamaran Cove to its lineup for the 56th annual event, which takes place Nov. 5 to Nov. 9.

Power and sail catamarans, ranging in size from 35 feet to 95 feet, will be on display at the recently renovated Pier 66 Marina throughout the duration of the boat show. This year, there will be about 20 catamarans in total, but FLIBS is aiming to ultimately host the largest catamaran show in the world.

"This segment of the market has very dedicated enthusiasts, and this new 'show within a show' will be a fun and convenient place for them to experience a big selection of both new and pre-owned, power and sail cats, all in one place," Brett Keating, vice president of consumer marketing for Show Management, which produces the boat show, said in a release.

Manufacturers including Gemini, Horizon and Gunboat will be on-site. Staley Weidman, CEO of The Catamaran Company, which will also have boats on display, explained that Fort Lauderdale is a natural fit for showcasing the fast-growing catamaran industry.

"Every major catamaran dealer and brokerage firm has an office in Fort Lauderdale, so of course we would host the largest catamaran show here," he said.
