Hey, Fort Lauderdale, JetBlue Hopes To Offer Direct Flights To Barbados Very Soon
The crystal clear waters of Barbados will soon only be a short (direct) flight from Fort Lauderdale.
JetBlue recently announced it would be offering non-stop flights between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados. The daily roundtrip service is expected to begin in April, pending government approval.
Fort Lauderdale would be the third airport from which the airline offers direct flights to the island. Service from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York launched in 2009, and flights from Boston’s Logan International Airport are expected to begin this fall.
"Vibrant Caribbean communities like Barbados are critical to our success," JetBlue President & CEO Robin Hayes said, according to a release. “Barbados is a terrific example of a destination where we have a true partnership with the tourism ministry, the airport and local hoteliers. We are working together to expand travel options to this incredibly beautiful island, boosting tourism and the local economy.”
JetBlue already offers nearly 100 flights per day to more than 40 destinations from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
