Fort Lauderdale Ranked Among 10 Best Cities To Find A Summer Job
Summer is fast approaching, and so is this month's rent. If you're looking for a summer gig to pay the bills, geographically, you're in the right place.
Whether you're returning from college or just looking for short-term employment, Fort Lauderdale is the place to be, a new Wallethub study shows. And, this time, it has nothing to do with our beaches.
Fort Lauderdale was recently ranked among the top 10 on WalletHub's list of 2016's Best Cities for Summer Jobs, coming in at No. 7. Our only real competition in the Sunshine State proved to be Orlando, which ranked No. 4 on the list.
To come up with its list, the financial literacy website compared data among the 150 most populated cities in the country across two key areas: "youth job-market outlook" and "social environment and affordability." These categories included metrics such as labor-force participation rates among people ages 16 to 24, unemployment rates, availability of summer jobs, internship listings and more.
Top cities where summer jobs are plentiful included Washington, D.C. (1); Scottsdale, Arizona (2); San Francisco (3); Orlando, Florida (4); and Reno, Nevada (5).
Cities on the lower end of the spectrum included Tallahassee, Florida and Columbus, Georgia, which ranked No. 149 and No. 150, respectively.
