Fort Lauderdale Ranked Among Best Summer Travel Destinations For 2016
Treat yourself to that summer getaway you’ve been fantasizing about.
WalletHub has rounded up a list of 2016’s best summer travel destinations, and luckily, we don't have to go far—or break the bank—to enjoy the ideal escape.
The financial website compared 80 of the largest metro areas to find the most wallet-friendly and Instagram-worthy summer destinations.
The Miami/Fort Lauderdale/West Palm Beach area ranked No. 27 on the list of scenic, must-see cities. Las Vegas claimed the No. 1 spot, with Salt Lake City and Orlando trailing close behind.
To come up with the ranking, analysts considered numerous factors including “cost of the cheapest flight," “number of attractions” and “diversity of activities.”
Americans are on target to spend nearly $83 billion on online hotel and flight bookings during the summer months, a 5.5 percent increase from last year, according to Adobe’s latest Digital Index Summer Travel Report. However, as WalletHub points out, the report notes that travelers plan to spend less money on their trips, budgeting an average of $2,239 for travel, compared to $2,788 in 2015.
