Fort Lauderdale Reaches Record-Low Temperature
This past Friday, South Florida finally got to experience a little taste of winter with temperatures dropping to the 30s and 40s in some areas.
While the cold front didn’t last long, temperatures in South Florida reached the coldest they’ve been since 2010 issuing freeze warnings and wind chill advisories for the area that were in place until 9 a.m.
Fort Lauderdale and Key West both broke records with their frigid temperatures while Miami tied its record low.
The temperature in Fort Lauderdale dropped to 32 degrees, 8 degrees colder than the current record of 40 degrees set in 1960.
Key West dipped to 49 degrees, breaking the record of 52 degrees set in 1958.
Miami tied a recoded low, dropping to 42 degrees for the first time since 1972.
