Fort Lauderdale’s Bahia Mar Announces $7 Million Redesign
Iconic hotel Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale Beach recently announced a new, upscale $7 million redesign.
Bahia Mar’s refresh will reflect the city’s nautical lifestyle and reputation as the Venice of America, highlighting the property’s status as the home of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
Specifically, the building’s guestrooms, common areas and meeting spaces will be the main focus of the redesign and is expected to be completed in mid-October.
Design team ID & Design International (IDDI) are heading the project, with plans of redesigning the main tower’s 181 rooms with ocean themes including white and blue color schemes, custom carpet, floor-to-ceiling headboards, peak-wood dressers and desks, custom light fixtures with USB outlets, flowing drapery and new appliances. King beds are also being added to the hotel’s ocean-facing rooms.
Bahia Mar’s atrium will showcase a custom $50,000 chandelier with silver-flecked blue glass shards. The corridors and 28,000 square feet of meeting space will feature new carpets with ripple-like designs and grand lighting fixtures. The ballroom will tout a second sea life-inspired chandelier designed by IDDI.
The redesign will also be accompanied by a new food and beverage program led by food and beverage director Ronnie Montoya and executive chef Kelli-Ann Chin. The robust menu will serve rotating specialty drinks and will revamp the menus for the onsite restaurants.
