Fourth Annual Diversity Honors Gala Will Honor Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis, Marjory Stoneman Douglas Students And More

The fourth annual Diversity Honors Gala, presented by Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, will be held at The Hard Rock Event Center on April 27, honoring Fort Lauderdale mayor Dean Trantalis, Dolores Huerta, Craig Stevens, David Richardson and the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Gay-Straight Alliance.

Mayor Trantalis will be the recipient of the first-ever Pride Center at Equality Park “Alan Schubert Award of Excellence” at the event, which begins at 7 p.m.

The gala will benefit the Harvey Milk Foundation and The Pride Center at Equality Park.

Dolores Huerta, who will also be recognized at the event, is a prominent leader in the Latino, labor and women’s civil rights movements. She co-founded the United Farm Workers of America with Cesar Chavez. 

Stuart Milk, nephew of civil rights icon Harvey Milk, will present the award to Huerta.

Emma González, a survivor of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting, a gun control activist and an advocate for LGBTQ rights, will be honored with the 2018 Milk Foundation Milan Rozsa Youth award.

Emceed by WSVN’s Lynn Martinez, the event serves as a kickoff to Harvey Milk Day events happening around the world, spotlighting those who advance inclusiveness. 

The evening will commence with a cocktail reception featuring live entertainment, an interactive balloon pop and a raffle of more than 200 luxury items. Dinner will be served through pop-up food stations with an open bar.

The Stoli After Party will include desserts, live entertainment, dancing and drinks. The after party will also be held at the Hard Rock Event Center.

R&B singer and actress La Toya London and DJ Kidd Madonny will headline the Stoli After Party.
