Italian Eatery Talento Restaurant Opens On Las Olas
White glove service meets Italian cuisine at the newly opened Talento Restaurant on Las Olas Boulevard.
A grand total of 12 Italian restaurants grace the streets of Las Olas, with three popping up in the past year alone (Piazza Italia, Tuscan Prime and Talento).
But Talento’s not your next pit stop for a speedy slice of pepperoni pizza or quick chicken parm. Expect a pleasant plot twist with fine dining served in this high-end “contemporary Southern Italian” restaurant.
Tufted plush white seating replaces basic chairs and booths to sit 160 people inside (60 can sit on the front patio); a water curtain sits pretty in the middle of the restaurant; and a marble high-top bar with an extensive array of liquor lines the left side of the establishment.
Open glass displays by the back showcase a phenomenal array of Italian delicacies, from cheesecakes and fruit tarts to charcuterie and fresh seafood.
The restaurant’s menu states that Italy-based owners Maurizio Turella and Sandra Picciurro strive to serve “authentic Italian cuisine that is anything but ‘old school.’” Executive chef and Italy native Luigi Criscuolo delivers what is promised, bringing Italian-imported and locally grown ingredients to Talento’s menu.
Lunch and dinner are served daily, and weekend brunch will be available soon. Among its dishes include a fried shrimp and calamari appetizer ($20); black ink linguine with octopus, langoustine and tomato sauce ($28); filet mignon with a balsamic glaze and sautéed mushrooms ($49); and imported Italian sea bass with rosemary and garlic, mashed potatoes and asparagus ($35). Pair your meal with a glass (or bottle) from Talento’s exclusive Italian wine cellar.
A vegan and vegetarian menu gives a meatless twist to Italian specialties, including breaded and baked tofu balls made with spinach, almonds and tofu in red sauce ($15) and rigatoni saporiti made with mushrooms, eggplant, cherry tomatoes, kale and zucchini ($18).
Complete your tour de Italy with Talento’s decadent desserts, such as chocolate, vanilla and/or hazelnut gelato ($9) or crème brûlée ($12).
