Miami's trendiest fresh juice chain is making its way north.
Jugofresh will open its first Broward location on Friday, Aug. 28, as a shop-within-a-shop at Fort Lauderdale's Whole Foods Market.
The fast-growing chain sells organic cold-pressed juices and smoothies—with names like "el green go" and "kale'ing me smalls"—as well as açai bowls and raw vegan quick bites.
The Fort Lauderdale jugofresh will take the place of Whole Foods' previous juice bar, but it will operate independently of the market. The jugofresh stand will have its own cash register, where customers must pay for their purchases before continuing to shop around the grocery store.
Jugofresh has opened several Miami locations this summer, including stores in Coral Gables and North Miami. In addition to its six stand-alone stores, jugofresh has one other spot inside of a Whole Foods Market in downtown Miami that opened in January.
Juan Nunez, Whole Foods Market's Florida regional president, said the partnership with jugofresh represents the company's ongoing support of local suppliers in the marketplace.
“We’re excited that we’ll offer our Fort Lauderdale-area customers a high-quality lifestyle product that is aligned with our core values,” Nunez said in a press release.
Jugofresh also plans to partner with health and wellness-minded businesses in the Fort Lauderdale community, much like it has in Miami. In Wynwood, Coral Gables and North Miami, for example, jugofresh hosts "Yoga del Barrio," a free monthly yoga class led by top instructors in the area. In Fort Lauderdale, jugofresh will work with Paige Held and Kelly Green from The Yoga Joint to introduce "Yoga del Barrio" to the Broward community.
Union Planter's Plaza, where the Whole Foods store is located, also houses fitness studios Orange Theory and Pure Barre; this could provide opportunities for additional collaborations, a jugofresh rep said.
For now, jugofresh is focused on making its Whole Foods Market Fort Lauderdale spot a success, but the company has said it would be interested in having a bigger presence in the city if the response is great.
