Parlour Vegan Bakery Will Bring Vegan Treats Like Homemade Pop Tarts, Dunkaroo Cupcakes To Boca Raton This September
Whimsical vegan delights and gluten-free treats are coming to Boca Raton.
Parlour Vegan Bakery, which opened its first location in Plantation last year, will be expanding to Boca with a second storefront in September.
With specialties such as black bean empanadas, giant pizza rolls, cinnamon rolls, and guava and cheese pastelitos, Parlour Vegan is the brainchild of co-owner Alejandra Miranda, a vegan who never saw herself opening her own bakery despite being involved in the industry. (The cake supply shop next door to Parlour Vegan in Plantation is also owned by her family.)
Parlour Vegan in Boca will serve much of the same—from cupcakes to doughnuts and handmade pop tarts—along with rotating pastry flavors and new product releases.
"Every single product that comes out, in some way, shape or form, is linked to my childhood, like the Dunkaroo [cupcake], or the pizza rolls…," she said.
While plenty of Parlour Vegan's guests are people who have dietary restrictions (gluten-free, dairy-free, etc.) or are vegans themselves, the entire customer base is a huge mix, according to Miranda. To a vegan like her, pleasing the traditional "omnivores" is the biggest honor.
"When they say, 'Oh, this is better than the real stuff,' it's big," she said.
Miranda decided to expand to Boca because she noticed there were no vegan bakeries in the area and knew there'd be a market for it.
"Everything felt 100 percent right," she said. "It was all very organic."
The aesthetic of the new store will also be in line with the original (soft and feminine, lightly rustic, but playful) but with more decor to show off Miranda's personality.
"There's a lot of aspects of our lives that we'd like to include in it, a little more space to put more things that really describe us and what we like," she said.
The Boca store plans to celebrate its grand opening (date not yet set) with free samples and giveaways. The festivities will be similar to the Plantation bakery's anniversary bash this past May when they had a line out the door, Miranda said.
"We were not expecting that at all; it really caught us by surprise," she said.
So what are Miranda's personal favorites?
"[P]robably the buffalo cauliflower and quinoa empanada … and that ranch I want to put on absolutely everything. … As far as sweets go, the Napoleon pastelito right now."
