Photos: Fort Lauderdale Air Show 2016
The return of the Fort Lauderdale Air Show was marked by ideal weather that helped welcome international jet teams and other special aircraft to Fort Lauderdale Beach on May 7 and May 8.
Looking on from different perspectives—the W Fort Lauderdale's rooftop pool deck and beach-level tents at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park—we offered live coverage on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.
From the Marine Corps' hovering AV-8B Harrier (a real head-turner) to the crowd-pleasing Air Force Thunderbirds, it was hard to choose a favorite. We saw Figure 8s, heart-shaped flight paths, and even letter-writing in the sky to wish all the moms in the crowd a "Happy Mother's Day."
And let's not forget about those sounds!
Lucky for us, it looks like the air show will return next year. Organizers announced tentative dates of May 6 and May 7, 2017. Needless to say, we'll be putting that in our calendar.
Below are some of our favorite photos and videos from the Fort Lauderdale Air Show, captured by our web team and other onlookers at the beach.
