A Room With a View: New Hotel Openings in Fort Lauderdale
Miles of beaches, blue skies and sunshine bring tourists from all over the world to Fort Lauderdale’s shores, and choosing where to stay is half the fun when it comes to vacationing in South Florida.
Fort Lauderdale boasts hundreds of luxury hotels across its shorelines, with new hotels and renovations opening every year. This year has been no exception. Here are the best new hotels in the area for your upcoming “staycation.”
Plunge Beach Hotel
Located in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Plunge Beach Hotel opened in early 2017 and prides itself on its laid-back, low-key vibe. Focusing less on the glitz and glams of traditional resort hotels, Plunge Beach Hotel lets guests experience a classic American beach town feel. Direct beach access, a swimming pool with ocean views and a restaurant that serves seafood fresh off the boat help the hotel reach its ambiance goals—it feels timeless.
Le Méridien Dania Beach at Fort Lauderdale Airport
Formerly Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Port Hotel, Le Méridien will open in the fall, following a $30 million transformation. Located 2.5 miles away from the airport, the hotel is a perfect spot to mix business with pleasure. A 20,000-square-foot flexible meeting space allows visitors to conduct business meetings during the day, and the location offers all the fun for the night. Close proximity to both downtown Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach gives guests plenty of options for entertainment.
Tryp by Wyndham Maritime Hotel
Anchor yourself to the boating capital of the world in Fort Lauderdale’s four-star Marina Bay at Tryp. The eight-story, 150-room hotel is inspired by its point of view. Original artwork by South Florida’s Richard Murphy highlights the aquatic life and beauty that surrounds the marina in each suite. Offering a Spanish tapas bar, rooftop bar and lounge and 11 aquariums, TRYP is built with your relaxation in mind.
Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach
Expected to open in late fall, the Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach is an oceanfront retreat with an elevated deck oasis, a spa and a fitness center, which featuresan ocean view and indoor and outdoor restaurants. Great news for the snowbirds—the location will also offer year-round condos called The Ocean Resort Residences. Each studio and suite comes with a kitchenette and a balcony that overlooks the water.
Newly restored, and formally known as the Seville Hotel & Apartments, Fala Hotel joined the ranks at Gzella Collection as one of its beachside boutique hotels. Combining modern interior design, smart technology, and historic architecture with surrounding water views, Fala is conveniently located between Sunrise and Las Olas Boulevards. The three-story hotel overlooks a courtyard and outdoor spaces and offers guests penthouse suites and stylish king-sized rooms.
