Silvercar Rental Car App Starting Service in Fort Lauderdale
Renting a car at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport just got easier.
Silvercar, an app-based rental car service, will be offered at the airport starting May 15. The app will allow users to reserve, pay for and unlock a silver Audi A4 via smartphones with iOS or Android operating systems.
“We had a large number of Silvercar customers flying into Fort Lauderdale and renting with us in Miami,” Silvercar spokeswoman Amber Soletti said in an email. “It was actually one of the market requests we received most frequently from our current customer base.”
The service has been offered at Miami international Airport since July.
The Silvercar app averages 1,000 downloads per day and, with more than 140,000 consumer supporters, has surpassed rental car competitor Avis in their number of Facebook followers, Soletti said. Customers who use Silvercar receive a silver Audi A4.
“Silvercar has eliminated that element of surprise and more often than not, disappointment, by instead delighting our customers with the same amazing car and experience every time they rent with us," Soletti said.
Silvercars cost between $59-89 per day depending on the location, day and demand. The company also provides roadside assistance to customers for no additional charge.
Younger drivers can also take advantage of Silvercar.
“We recently changed the minimum age to rent from 25 to 22,” Soletti said.
Silvercar is planning to add the service to four to six markets this year. It currently provides service at Austin, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Phoenix and San Francisco airports. Chicago service will be available starting June 15.
