Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing On I-595
A small plane made an emergency landing on Interstate 595 Thursday morning.
There were no reports of injuries.
The aircraft landed on the westbound lanes of the interstate, near the exit to Southwest 136th Avenue, around 9 a.m.
Westbound traffic was being diverted to State Road 84.
The pilot, identified as Scott Richmond of Grand Rapids, Michigan, by local media, said he ran out of gas after being cleared for landing at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
He told WSVN he prayed to God for a safe landing: "If you're gonna take me out, fine but don't do this to my daughters or I'm going to be really pissed at you," he recalled thinking.
The Davie Police Department shared updates on the situation, as well as pictures of the scene.
Video from NBC 6 shows the plane on the interstate.
