Society 8’s Oktoberfest Celebration At Hugh Taylor Birch State Park Will Feature Biergartens, Polka Dancing And German Cuisine

Grab your steins and lederhosen, folks. An Oktoberfest celebration is in store for Fort Lauderdale.

On Sunday, Sept. 25, Society 8—the South Florida-based restaurant and nightlife group behind Beauty & The Feast, the Atlantic Hotel & Spa, Solita & Mastino in Delray, and more—will be hosting its inaugural Oktoberfest celebration at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. The event will run from noon to 6 p.m.

Weather permitting, an anticipated hundreds of Fort Lauderdale locals will feel like they've been swept away to the German countryside as the 180-acre park is transformed into villages with biergartens, food tents and traditional decor.

"We are excited to work with Birch State Park for our very first Oktoberfest—the park is awesome, near the beach and thirsty for an event," said Society 8's Danny D'Apuzzo. "The park has such great ties to the Fort Lauderdale community and is a fun and unique venue for a social event."

Fort Lauderdale-based Khoffner Brewery will be providing locally brewed beer to fill up guests' steins, and attendees can pair their ale with bites from a delicious German-American menu prepared by Society 8, featuring Bavarian pretzels, bratwurst, apple strudel and more.

As guests sip and snack, polka dancers will be performing alongside live polka music performers, plus various other bands will be playing today’s hits. Guests can also compete in barrel rolling, beer racing and other traditional games to burn off the stouts and supper.

"This will be the ultimate Sunday Funday—Oktoberfest style," D'Apuzzo said. "With the great oceanfront atmosphere, laid-back vibe, live music and German-inspired offerings, there’s a lot to look forward to."

Tickets can be purchased at Society8.com/oktoberfest and include options of $10 for general admission, $39 for food and drink admission (beer cup, three beers, brat and pretzel), and $69 for VIP (three beers, souvenir stein, and access to VIP tasting tent). Parking is $6 per car.
