South Florida Beer Powerhouses Funky Buddha And Tap 42 Are Releasing A Pale Ale Together
South Florida's favorite beer bosses have collaborated on a new brew, and it won't be long before we can all try it.
This November, Tap 42 and Funky Buddha Brewery are releasing 42 Truths, an American pale ale with "a crisp body and balanced hop aroma." It will be available only at the brewery and Tap 42's Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton locations.
The ale features caramel malts, Northwestern hops and fresh orange peel. It will be unveiled at Tap 42 in Boca Raton on Nov. 19 after an initial launch event in Fort Lauderdale two days prior. At each event, Funky Buddha brewers will be on site to provide Tap 42 customers with samples, talk to them about the beer and answer any questions.
John Linn, Funky Buddha's brand manager, explained that Tap 42 and Funky Buddha have worked together on events and initiatives in the past, and the idea for this beer was born from a recent meetup.
"It didn't take long for us to decide it would be a good fit," he said.
When the team at Tap 42 visited Funky Buddha Brewery to get the collaboration underway, they knew they wanted to create a pale ale. They sat and tasted beers together, discussing their options.
"[W]e tasted and discussed different types and eventually settled on an ale that would have good hop presence but not over-the top-bitterness," Linn said. "The idea to add orange peel came from wanting to connect this beer distinctly with Florida, while also making the flavor addition subtle enough as not to overwhelm people. We think it works."
Speaking of what works, the brewers suggest pairing 42 Truths with either Tap 42's golden quinoa superfood salad or citrus and herb grilled chicken.
