South Florida Native Gaby Diaz Wins ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ With Moves That Won’t Quit

This South Florida native deserves a major round of applause.

Gaby Diaz, of Miami, walked away the winner of “So You Think You Can Dance” season 12 on Monday.

The 19-year-old, who auditioned for the hit Fox show in Detroit, has a background in tap and ballet. She said she was more than elated to even make the top 20.

“My first reaction was to ask if they were serious because I couldn't believe this was actually happening to me after having been a fan of the show for so many years,” she says in her biography on the SYTYCD website

Ahead of the season finale, Diaz tweeted her appreciation for the opportunities that have come her way.

So, what’s next for the dance star? Diaz will be given the chance to flaunt her moves at Jennifer Lopez's new Las Vegas show, opening in January.

But it looks like a performance with a certain Miami native isn’t totally out of the question either.

After WSVN suggested Diaz work with Pitbull in one of his music videos, Diaz responded with: "Mr. 305, let's go!"

The SYTYCD 2015 tour will be coming to South Florida in October, with appearances in West Palm Beach and Miami.
