What To Do For St. Patrick's Day 2016 In Fort Lauderdale

All of South Florida's other cities will turn green with envy once they hear what Fort Lauderdale has to offer for St. Patrick's Day. 

Start things off with the city's St. Patrick's Parade & Festival this weekend, and continue the celebration at local bars, restaurants and pubs hosting Irish-themed parties on Thursday, March 17.

Get ready to drink lots of Guinness, listen to musicians playing bagpipes, and do an Irish jig yourself. Here's what's going on in Fort Lauderdale for St. Paddy's.

Rockin' the Green Block Party at Murphy's Law

March 11-12, 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., Murphy's Law Irish Pub at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood

Various bands and entertainers, including U2 and Journey tribute bands, will take over Murphy's indoor and outdoor stages during a festive block party hosted by Murphy's Law Irish Pub. DJ Gary Malone from Limerick, Ireland, and the Drake School of Irish Dance will perform. Festivities continue on March 17 with live music and another mega celebration. All the festivities will feature go-go dancers, bagpipes and more, with green beer, Guinness, Irish Carb Bombs and other Celtic specials on tap on St. Patrick's Day from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.


Fort Lauderdale St. Patrick's Parade & Festival

Saturday, March 12, 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Huizenga Plaza

The daylong festival will take over downtown Fort Lauderdale from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. with live bands, Irish dancers, interactive games, cultural activities, Irish merchandise, food and more. Kick off the St. Patrick's Day festivities with a 4-mile Celtic Run, 2-mile walk or 1-mile fun run where kids and adults chase the leprechaun and his pot of gold. (Register at celtic4miler.com for the 7:30 a.m. race.) Then at noon, watch the parade of decorative floats, marching bands, and bag pipe performers.

Note: E. Las Olas Boulevard from Andrews Avenue to SE 1st Avenue will be closed from Friday, March 11, at 8:30 a.m. to Saturday, March 12, at midnight. Additionally, E. Las Olas Boulevard from Andrews Avenue to SE 16th Avenue will be closed from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Saturday to accommodate the Celtic Run.  


Brimstone's Party on the Patty'O

Saturday, March 12, 8 p.m. to midnight, Brimstone Woodfire Grill in Pembroke Pines

Enjoy a pre St. Paddy's Day party on the patio at Brimstone Woodfire Grill. There will be live music, giveaways and drink specials, including $5 Hopjuice IPA bottles and red sangria.


Public House's Get Lucky Sunday Brunch

Sunday, March 13, noon, Himmarshee Public House in Fort Lauderdale

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with the Public House brunch menu and bottomless mimosas and bloody marys, accompanied by a live DJ, robot suit performers, sparklers, St. Paddy's-themed party favors and more. Table reservations are strongly suggested. In addition, throughout the week, Himmarshee Public House's usual Monday through Friday happy hour from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. will feature green-themed 2-for-1 drinks and bar bites.


American Social's St. Patrick's Day Party

Thursday, March 17, 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., American Social Bar & Kitchen in Fort Lauderdale

Come decked out in green, and enjoy the Irish extravaganza at American Social on Las Olas with DJ Livitup. Irish-themed drink specials will include Green Bud Light for $5, Jameson for $6, Jameson Mules for $8 and Guinness Drafts for $6. Better yet, during happy hour from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., everything behind the bar is 50 percent off.


Maguires' St. Patrick's Day 2016 Festival

Thursday, March 17, Maguires Irish Pub & Eatery in Fort Lauderdale

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day at a traditional Irish pub. Maguires Hill 16 hosts its annual festival under the giant tent, where patrons will be able to see bagpipers, step dances and live bands perform throughout the day. The restaurant will begin serving breakfast at 8 a.m. Live music starts at noon.


Shooters' Shamrock Soiree

Thursday, March 17, Shooters Waterfront in Fort Lauderdale

Guests who wear green can get lucky drink specials at the revamped Shooters Waterfront. Shooters will offer drink specials—$5 Jameson whiskey shots and $3 green beer—and provide party favors and complimentary four-leaf clover cookies at this Irish affair. Shooters will also be serving its shepherd's pie for $17.


Himmarshee Block Party

Thursday, March 17, Himmarshee Public House in Fort Lauderdale

The official St. Patrick's Day party starts at Himmarshee Public House, featuring a live DJ, party favors and more. But guests can also take advantage of 2-for-1 drink specials along the whole block as part of JEY Hospitality Group's new Himmarshee Street Happy Hour, which lets guests buy a drink at one restaurant and redeem a second free drank at any of the participating restaurants (ROK:BRGR, Tacocraft, Pizzacraft, Apothecary 330).


Margaritaville's Pot of Gold Promotion

It's your lucky day. Bars and restaurants at the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort are rolling out special food and beverage offers. LandShark Bar & Grill and Margaritaville Restaurant will both serve beer cheese dip with two Guinness drafts for $14, and guests of the Lone Palm Beach Bar or 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill can enjoy Irish Tacos made with corned beef, coleslaw and a yogurt cilantro, along with two Guinness drafts, for $16.


Gulfstream Park's $2 Bar Crawl
