The fifth annual Chefs Up Front will be held in Fort Lauderdale on Aug. 28 at the W Fort Lauderdale. The event will also be held in Miami on Sept. 18.

Each chef will prepare a five-course meal for each table. Among the dishes being prepared are a yellowfin tuna crudo, grilled cheese and tomato soup, Florida grouper with a celery root puree and sugar snap peas, broiled dry aged New York strip with a beet confit, and a baked Alaska.

Throughout the past four years, the Chefs Up Front events have raised more than $200,000 to help 1,500 kids and their families, FLIPANY grant writer Jennifer Hoffman said.

“The event was so successful last year, that we added an additional table to the event,” she said.

More than 120 people are expected to attend the dinner in August.

In addition to enjoying a meal, participants will have the chance to take part in a silent auction. Items being auctioned include private dinners by some of the featured chefs, brewery tours, gift certificates and hotel stays.

Proceeds from the event will help FLIPANY implement its Cooking Matters program, which will teach kids and their families how to make healthy food choices on a budget.

Tickets for the event cost $200.
