Town Center At Sawgrass Will Be The Mall’s Newest Open-Air Addition, And It’ll Feature 25 Full-Price Shops
Surprise. There will be even more stores at Sawgrass come 2018.
On Tuesday, property group Simon announced it will add 25 full-price retailers and four restaurants to the ever-growing Sawgrass Mills mall in Sunrise. The new outdoor area, called Town Center at Sawgrass, will be accessible from Flamingo Road and Sunrise Boulevard and feature a 2,000-car parking structure for shoppers.
The project, which will add 118,000 square feet of space, is set to begin in early 2017 and is expected to be completed by fall of the following year.
But as those who frequent Sawgrass already know, that’s just more construction for the area. Workers are expanding the high-end Colonnade Outlets, and The Oasis—which houses stores like Nordstrom Rack, Ron Jon Surf Shop and the movie theater—will be getting upgrades in 2016.
Simon reps did not have additional information regarding the stores and restaurants slated for Town Center at Sawgrass. Details about handling more shoppers and, hence, traffic, at an already congested mall were also not available. However, in a press release, the group said “both the pedestrian and vehicular circulation patterns [for Town Center] will be fully integrated into the Sawgrass Mills complex.”
