Uber Is Back In Broward, And You Can Celebrate Tonight At YOLO On Las Olas
The Uber app is now back up and running in Broward after a two-and-a-half month hiatus, and YOLO thinks that's something worth celebrating.
After Uber pulled out of Broward over what the company called stringent regulations this summer, the County Commission voted 6-2 Tuesday to pass an ordinance that would bring ride-hailing services back to the area. To celebrate, Las Olas hotspot YOLO is throwing a Broward Brings Back Uber Bash on Thursday, Oct. 15.
The celebratory happy hour will include 2-for-1 drink specials and remarks by Broward County Commissioner Chip LaMarca, who played a central role on the commission in bringing Uber back to the county.
Guests who arrive by Uber will receive a complimentary cocktail, and for any newbies to the ride-hailing app—is there anyone left who hasn't used it at this point?—Uber is giving first-timers a free trip up to $20 with the code BACKINBROWARD. (At the time of writing, Uber competitor Lyft had not yet resumed service in the area.)
The party will kick off in the outdoor fire put lounge and run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There's no cover charge to attend.
