The Walmart Supercenter In Fort Lauderdale Is Officially Open
Fort Lauderdale’s first Walmart officially opened its doors Wednesday morning.
Located at 2500 W. Broward Blvd., the Walmart Supercenter encompasses 185,000 square feet of space with a grocery store, pharmacy and vision center. As is the case at all Walmart stores, customers will also be able to take advantage of free in-store pickup for items bought online.
Before the opening, the nearest Walmart stores to the city were in Pompano Beach, Lauderdale Lakes, Sunrise and Davie.
About 100 people, including Mayor Jack Seiler, gathered at the new store for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The store, which is open 24 hours, seven days a week, will employ 300 full- and part-time associates.
“We are proud to be a part of the Ft. Lauderdale community,” store manager Anthony Boykins said in a release. “We look forward to opening and providing area residents with Walmart’s everyday low prices in this new year and beyond.”
