Water Taxi Adds New Local Hollywood Route, Express Intercity Service To Fort Lauderdale
New year, new Water Taxi options—that seems to be the Fort Lauderdale transportation service's motto for 2016.
Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi announced route expansions this week, including a new local Hollywood-only route, a Hollywood-to-Fort Lauderdale express boat, and the addition of two new stops.
Plus, Water Taxi will be reintroducing its Island Adventure boat, which can hold up to 149 passengers. Restored from the ship originally built in 1964, it will carry passengers riding the new Hollywood-Fort Lauderdale Express Route.
The express route, which launched Tuesday, connects the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina/Convention Center stop with the recently added stop at Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort. It will make 18 round-trips per day. The boat departs every 45 minutes between 10 a.m. and 10:45 p.m.
The new Hollywood local route makes five stops: Margaritaville’s 5 o’clock Somewhere Bar & Grill, Joe’s Market, Diplomat Resort & Spa, Crowne Plaza Hollywood Beach and the Beachwalk Resort.
Hallandale's Beachwalk Resort, one of the two new stops, will be Water Taxi's southernmost stop. The second new stop is along Fort Lauderdale's New River between the Stranahan House and the Riverside Hotel.
"With added access to the shopping, dining and entertainment of both Las Olas and Hollywood, plus express service in between the two cities, guests and tourists alike can now easily experience the best of both worlds while taking in an incredible view from the water along the way,” Water Taxi co-owner Mike McGurl said in a press release.
