Wings For Life World Run Will Return To Sunrise With Moving Finish Line For A Charitable Cause
Race towards the (moving) finish line at the Wings for life World Run, returning to South Florida for the fifth time on May 6.
The race will happen simultaneously in locations all over the world, and 100 percent of registration fees and donations directly benefit spinal cord research. The South Florida race will be held at the BB&T Center in Sunrise and will begin at 7 a.m.
The unique race features the “Catcher Car,” a moving finish line that takes off 30 minutes after the start of the race and steadily increases its speed until it passes all the participants, creating a moving finish line.
Because of the format, the race does not have a set distance, but encourages participants to chase after personal bests in both distance and time.
For those who cannot make the race, but still want to participate, the Wings for Life World Run app, which simulated the catcher car, will be available for runners to donate to the cause and run in the location of their choosing.
