Women Empower Expo In Fort Lauderdale Aims To Inspire Females Of All Ages With Workshops, Keynote Speakers, Fitness Classes And More
Nothing is stronger than a group of women empowering each other to make a difference in their own lives and their communities.
That's what motivational speaker Alexa Carlin hopes will be the takeaway from the inaugural Women Empower Expo (WEX) held at the Broward Convention Center on Oct. 15.
More than 2,000 attendees are expected at the event, which will feature more than 70 exhibitors, 50 keynote speakers, two fashion shows, and eight fitness and self-defense classes for women of all ages. Tickets are $30.
Carlin, who decided to start the conference after a near-death experience, said she’s excited to provide a platform of support for females in the community.
“The mission behind the Women Empower Expo is to empower women to collaborate versus compete, and to really lift each other up to our highest potential of self,” Carlin said.
Keynote speakers will be discussing a variety of topics, including “How to Turn Tragedy into Triumph” with Carlin; “The Power of Confidence” with Sheryl Clark, the president and CMO of Boca-based clothing brand Boston Proper; and “How to Overcome Procrastination through Hypnosis” with Grace Smith, celebrity hypnotist and founder of GraceSpace.co.
“We really wanted to get a wide range of speakers because this event isn’t just for women in business or women entrepreneurs, it’s an event that’s targeting women that are passionate about a wide range of things,” Carlin said.
Yoga, Afro-Caribbean dance, self-defense boot camp and a wide variety of other fitness classes will also be available for attendees.
Plans for next year's event are already in motion, but before returning to Fort Lauderdale in 2017, WEX will be making a stop in Washington, D.C., on May 27, to expand the message of women’s empowerment.
For those on the fence about signing on, Carlin offers this: “There is no event like this in South Florida, let alone Fort Lauderdale, and it’s definitely going to be a very positive event."
The Women Empower Expo will take place on Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Broward Convention Center.
