2018-2019 Season at Bienes Center for the Arts
The Bienes Center for the Arts is a state of the art black box theater and performance center located on the campus of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The Bienes Center is intended to nurture the emphasis on the arts for the students of St. Thomas Aquinas, other schools and institutions in the area and the community at-large. The Bienes Center offerings excite the community about the important role of the “Arts” and provide a venue for theater, dance, music, lectures, art, drama, speech, and debate through the production of local, regional, and national events and performances.
St. Thomas Aquinas Fine Arts programs and classes utilize the Bienes Center facilities on a daily basis, with additional STA concerts, performances, exhibits and events scheduled on evenings and weekends throughout the school year. In addition, a series of professional performances and cultural events are offered annually and are open to the public as ticketed events.
Since opening in 2008 the Bienes Center for the Arts has continued to host and present national and international events, exhibits and performances. Some notable events have featured: Broadway Star Idina Menzel, Latin Music Star Tito Puente Jr., Platinum Rock band Dashboard Confessional, The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra, Political Satirist's The Capitol Steps, Grammy Nominee Seraphic Fire, Pilobolus Dance Theater, Illusionist Leon Etienne, Hollywood Legend Danny Aiello, Celebrity Chef Paula Deen, Jazz Guitarist Charlie Hunter, Yale Univeristy’s A Capella Groups The Whiffenpoofs, Whim 'N Rhythm and The New Blue, Legendary Vocal Group The Platters, Rockapella, Symphony of the Americas, Florida Grand Opera, and many other events, performances, recitals, and exhibits.
The 2018-2019 season of professional events will feature Tomaseen Foley’s A Celtic Christmas (November 29), The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra (January 9), Jerry Seeger’s Demerits, Detentions and Dismissals (January 17),Late Night Catechism (January 23), Florida Sport Fishing Seminar w/ Captain Mike Genoun (February 21), The Capitol Steps (March 18) and Florida Grand Opera’s Studio Artists in concert (April 8).
