South Florida’s ARTOPIA Raises the Bar for its 2015 Extravaganza
The Gay and Lesbian Business eXchange (GLBX), a council of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the second annual ARTOPIA event presented by Audi of Fort Lauderdale on Friday, November 20th. This year, the gala of visual, performing, fashion and culinary arts will take over the entire NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale.
ATROPIA is the brainchild of GLBX members Michael Faerber and Geph Scarr. The idea was to create an exciting cultural event to build bridges in the business community through the arts. Scarr says, “Imagine you are at an event surrounded by performances, fashion shows, music, and amazing examples of art and sculpture. There will be so many things going on at once you’ll be afraid you’re missing something.”
The evening begins with an exclusive VIP party at 6 p.m. that includes a special reception where you can hobnob and mingle with the artists and performers while enjoying specialty drinks and hors d’oeuvres. General admission opens at 7 p.m., when the entire museum comes to life with over 20 guest artist exhibits and dozens of food and beverage vendors. Local favorites like Hardy’s Park Bistro and Shooters on the Waterfront are among those offering a taste of their culinary delights. Special performances will take place on the main stage throughout the night and include a performance art style fashion show that will be sure to have people talking. The evening culminates on the outdoor deck at 10 p.m. when a special guest DJ takes over to cap off the night with music and dancing.
In addition to the special artist’s and performers, patrons of the event will be able to enjoy the limited engagement exhibits of the NSU Museum including Revolution of the Eye: Modern Art and the Birth of American Television and The Indestructible
ARTOPIA is a benefit for the GLBX, which is one of the fastest growing business networking groups in Broward County. The GLBX is committed to bringing together straight and gay owned businesses along with large and small corporations so that together the business community can continue to “build bridges” and infuse dollars back into the area. ARTOPIA was conceived as a cultural event in order to appeal to all aspects of the business and artistic communities.
Tickets for ARTOPIA are available now along with more information at GLBX.org. General admission tickets are $75, and VIP admission is $100 – both include all of the food offered along with open bars throughout the night. VIP entrance includes the pre-event artist reception, a gift bag, and free valet parking. In addition, sponsorship opportunities are still available.
