Symphony of the Americas – Summerfest, Celebrates 25 Years!
Broward’s longest running Summerfest is back, celebrating its 25th Anniversary. For one month, the Symphony of the Americas will perform throughout Florida and the Americas from July 9 – August 10 with its continuing focus on cultural exchange. Highlighting the ‘Best of the Best”, the Summerfest String Orchestra will feature musicians and soloists who have participated in this Festival over the past 25 years! Activities will include concerts, master classes, and educational outreach, taking the masterful sounds of this great ensemble to audiences in corners of the world who have never before experienced the exhilaration of a live orchestral performance.
In honor of our 25th Anniversary, this Summerfest features two performances of different musical repertoire in a special 2-CONCERT SUNDAY SERIES starting at just $30 per person. The first concert of the series will be held at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts-Amaturo Theatre on Sunday, July 17 featuring Musical Program One. The second concert will be held at the Florida Atlantic University Theatre on Sunday, August 7 featuring Musical Program Two.
This Summerfest String Orchestra will include musicians and soloists from international orchestras such as the Arpeggione Chamber Orchestra of Austria, the Mission Chamber Orchestra of Rome, Hungarian Virtuosi, Italy’s I Musici and more, representing more than 10 different countries - performing several styles of classical and popular music for strings, joined in cultural exchange by principal musicians of our own Symphony under the lively baton of Artistic Director, Maestro James Brooks-Bruzzese.
Experience the music of Vivaldi, Mozart, Bloch, Fuchs, Piazzolla tangos, a commissioned piece by Italian composer Lorenzo Turchi-Floris, a special arrangement of Latin favorites by Latin Grammy Award winning composer Eduardo Magallanes of Mexico and more. Featured soloists include violinist Sandro Tigishvili of Republic of Georgia, Summerfest Concertmaster and violinist Orlando Forte of Cuba, principals; violinist, Svetlana Forte of Ukraine, and flutist, Marilyn Maingart of USA.
