The Rusty Hook Tavern
Before arriving at a name, Nader Jaouhar, Kareem Lakchira and Andy Patton chose a paint color for their restaurant – a reddish orange, which in turn inspired the name The Rusty Hook Tavern. The casual dining location along The Intracoastal Waterway is headed by these three restaurant players who met during their time at the Boca Resort working at the Gordon Ramsay restaurant, Cielo. Now, at their own location, the trio offers modern American cuisine, local brews and craft cocktails with a waterfront view.
The Crispy Octopus starter is interwoven with gigante bean, artichoke and preserved lemon. Or, try the Blue Crab Cakes, which are accompanied by gazpacho and avocado cream. Both live up to high presentation standards. For an entree, try the Island Spiced Swordfish, decorated with clams in a puddle of spicy ginger coconut sauce alongside lemongrass rice. And, in between bites, sip a Thai Basil cocktail, prepped with Svedka Clementine, Thai basil and grapefruit.
While the chef changes the menu with the “seasons,” a possibly permanent dessert is the cherry panna cotta, dropped in a mason jar and topped with an orange. To eat, grab a spoon or one of the hazelnut, chocolate wafers placed at its side.
