Winterfest Festivities are Coming to Town

Fort Lauderdale's Intracoastal Waterway will soon be filled with holiday cheer.

The annual Winterfest celebration will begin Dec. 6 with the “Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Black Tie Ball,” presented by Moët & Chandon, at the Hard Rock Live.

During the ball, the Welcome Reception (sponsored by Patriot National Insurance Group) will feature a silent Auction, taking place inside the ballroom. The live auction, where participants can bid using smart phones, will include more than 250 items such as a Carroll’s Jewelers shopping spree, weekend vacations, sports memorabilia, fine art and more.

Bidders don’t even have to attend to participate (they may start bidding by visiting here).

This formal event will also have a special performance directly from the Broadway show “Motown the Musical” and live entertainment featuring music by “Flavors.”

The festivities continue with the “Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade” on Dec. 13. Known as the “Greatest Show on H2O,” this year’s theme is TV’s Greatest Hits with an appearance from Billboard artist Flo Rida aboard the JM Lexus Grand Marshal Showboat.

Everything from private boats to giant showboats to megayachts will parade 12 miles up the Intracoastal Waterway and will be decked out with hundreds of lights and decorations with music, musical groups and celebrities aboard. Every year the most popular celebrity at the event, of course, is Santa Claus, aboard the Baptist Health Santa Showboat.

The Grandstand Viewing Area, is the best place to view the show. The cost is $25 for adult and $20 for children 10 and under. Tickets and more information, including private boat entry registration at $35, can be found at www.winterfestparade.com.
